The word sneaker is for each of us firmly rooted in the vocabulary. But where is the origin of the word?Sneaker exist since 1917.
The american company U.S. Rubber manufactured shoes since the beginning of the 20th century. But when the first shoes rolled off, the shoes were still nameless. The producers were really convinced that their shoes were something special so they called it simply Champion. The model Champion got a rubber sole and because the shoe was incredibly quiet they established the word sneaker.
Success Story:
Keds has been worn traditionally by different generations through the decades. In the 20s the brand was available for men and was a success. Great tennis stars and soccers contributed to the success. In the 30s they designed the first collection for women under the name Kedettes. It was the first heel shoe with a shock-absorbing rubber outsole. In the 40s the campaign "How To Put The Fun Back into Living" brings Keds to the feet of young and old. The comfortable Booster model comes in the 50s on the market. A other classic saw the light of world in the 50s. The Pointer was born with a pointed shape and bright colors, it was all the rage. The classic Champion will be reissured in the 70s and celebrated a successful comeback.
